ASTF, the occupational health service for the tertiary and financial sectors, supports companies and their employees through its periodic medical examinations. These health checks are designed not only to assess the health status of employees, but also to ensure that they are fit to perform their duties without risk to themselves or those around them.
A service included in your contributions
Our periodic examinations are covered as part of company contributions. Only the blood tests from the health checkup, previously performed by an external laboratory, remain the responsibility of the employer (€94 – The amount may vary depending on the laboratory).

How often should you have regular check-ups?
Periodic medical check-ups are recommended at intervals that vary according to age and professional context:
- Between the ages of 20 and 29: a control check-up.
- Between the ages of 30 and 50: an examination is necessary every 5 years.
- From the age of 50: follow-up every 3 years is recommended to detect early signs of age-related disorders.
In certain specific cases (exposure to specific occupational hazards or work in a high-stress environment), the frequency may be shortened to ensure increased monitoring.
Why is a fitness certificate issued?
The ASTF has set a periodicity after each recruitment visit and after each consultation or health checkup, depending on the terms of the law.
It is necessary to keep all fitness certificates in order to be able to present them in the event of an ITM inspection.
More information on this page: Occupational medicine visits become periodic.
Procedure for the health examination
- Preparation: Before the appointment, the employee must have done a urine test at an approved laboratory (as well as a blood test, depending on the chosen formula). The costs are covered by the company.
- On-site tests: The examinations are carried out on site by a nurse (W or M). This includes auditory tests (audiometry), visual, pulmonary, and other tests depending on the chosen formula.
- Consultation with the doctor: The occupational physician analyses the results and issues a medical fitness form, specifying any recommendations or adjustments that may be required.
The entire process takes between 30 minutes and 1h30, depending on the chosen formula.
Why are these health checks essential?
Periodic health checks play a crucial role in preventing illnesses and work-related accidents. In an environment where stress, sedentary lifestyle, and metabolic diseases are on the rise, these examinations enable:
- Early detection of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or musculoskeletal disorders.
- Reducing occupational risks by monitoring the suitability between the employee’s health and the demands of their job.
- Encourage a preventive and proactive approach to health, by guiding employees towards beneficial practices: balanced diet, stress management, physical activity, etc.
A person in good health is a key factor for the success and sustainability of their professional activities.
