Training content
The ‘Mental Health First Aid’ (“MHFA”) training provides the foundational skills to identify common mental health disorders, offer initial support and guide individuals towards appropriate resources. Through theoretical input, practical scenarios and hands-on tools, participants develop a posture of active listening, support and prevention.
Mental disorders covered:
- Depression;
- Anxiety disorders;
- Psychosis;
- Substance use disorders.
Crisis situations addressed:
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviours;
- Panic attacks;
- Traumatic events;
- Severe psychotic states;
- Serious effects of alcohol and other substance use;
- Aggressive behaviour.
It is neither a diagnostic nor a therapeutic tool, but a pragmatic resource to help deal with the above-listed situations and to best lead the person towards professional assistance as soon as possible.
